MILDRED HASENPFLUG Wrote Poetry, was active in social clubs


Mildred M. Masenpflug (nee Lucas), 78, a former Henrietta Township resident,

died Wednesday evening in the Elyria United Methodist Home after a long

illness.


Born in Lorain, Mrs. Hasenpflug graduated from high school there, then

moved to Brownhelm Township, where she lived 19 years. In 1956 she moved

to Henrietta, where she lived until she moved to the Methodist Home.


A homemaker all her life, Mrs. Hasenpflug was a member of the Church of the

Open Door, Elyria.


She was past president of the Naomi Singles at the church, a member of the

Henrietta Grange, Order of Eastern Star 165 Elyria, and for many years was a

member of the Henrietta Farm Women's Club.


She loved poetry and was known for the poems she wrote.


Mrs. Hasenpflug is survived by daughter Betty Berkmeyer and son William

"Bill," both of Oberlin; four grandchildren; a great-grandaughter; and brother

Frank Lucas of Clearwater, Fla.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Ralph W., in 1979;

sisters Rose Goldthorpe and Ann Miller; and brother Albert Lucas.


Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Hempel Funeral Home, 373

Cleveland Ave., Amherst.


Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Darrell

L. Farney, Associate pastor of the Church of the Open Door, officiating.


Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Brownhelm Township.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the         Open Door.
