LORAIN -- Dave Czapp, 92 of Lorain, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at Community
Health Partners, Lorain, following a sudden illness.
He was born Dec. 15,
1907, in Tarpa, Bereg, Hungary. He came to Lorain in 1921.
Czapp worked for 47 years as a pipe cutter and crane operator in the number 4 Butt Mill at
the United States Steel Co. Lorain-Cuyahoga works. He retired in 1972.
He was a member of the Lorain Hungarian Reformed Church for 79 years. He was also a member
of the United Steel Workers, local 1104, Lorain. He enjoyed the outdoors, working in his
vegetable and flower gardens, feeding the birds and squirrels and caring for his dogs. He
was also a woodworker and particularly enjoyed building birdhouses. He was an avid bowler.
Survivors include his daughters Margaret B. Obrin of Avon Lake, Lillian Hawkins of Lorain
and Linda West of Elyria; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Margaret (nee Papp); parents, Michael and Ethel
(nee Saas) Czapp; son, Daniel; daughter, Rosemarie Feeney; and one grandson.
Friends may call Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783
E. 31st St., Lorain, where a prayer service will be 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call
Tuesday noon until time of service at 1 p.m. in the Lorain Hungarian Reformed Church, E.
31st St. and Globe Ave., Lorain. The Rt. Rev. Louis Medgyesi, Bishop of the Calvin Synod
of Fairport Harbor, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
