The buildings to the left are the remains of Mackert's Dairy. A wooden structure used as an office was attached in the front. Lester Mackert moved it across the road (to the Schueller homestead) to use as a chicken coop.

A medium sized Yankee style barn to the north of the dairy building has been torn down. Grandpa Mackert put a large walk in cooler inside the barn for the dairy to use.

There was a wonderful old farm house on the property just south of the driveway. It had to be torn down when Abbe road was made wider. The old farm house once belonged to my Grandfather's (Ed Mackert) grandparents. A couple of years after he married my grandmother Bertha Schueller, they moved into this house and raised their family.

The white structure to the right of the old dairy buildings is the home I was raised in. At one time is was connected directly to the dairy. Bertha and Ed Mackert built it for my parents, Luella and Paul Izold. The house is now owned by my sister and her husband, Judy and Phillip Bruder.

This homestead with the two homes was my mother's inheritance. It includes about 2 acres. Until recently, Lester Mackert owned the acreage surrounding this property including the old dairy building.

He recently sold it to a developer so the dairy buildings will be history soon.
